The structure collects the archaeological and historical evidence of the entire Chianti area, with the findings and results of the excavations carried out in the sites of Monte Calvario, Poggino in Castellina in Chianti, Cetamura, Rietine and Gaiole in Chianti.

The Museum is a showcase of the archaeological reality of the area and, through the traces found in the excavations of Poggio la Croce, near Radda in Chianti, still in progress, it was possible to reconstruct some aspects of Etruscan life, such as the vocation the cultivation of the land and the ability to produce wine. The ancestral link between the land of Chianti and the vine and wine is also confirmed by the discovery of some seeds of "Vitis Vinifera", dating back to twenty-three centuries ago at the Poggio la Croce site, and by the discovery, within the same archaeological excavation, of some remains attributable to the presence of a pressure press for pressing the grapes.

The Archaeological Museum of the Sienese Chianti is articulated on two floors. On the ground floor there are the entrance and rest areas to welcome the public, as well as a large screen showing visitors the exhibition route, the archaeological research methods used and the exhibits displayed on the upper floor. On the ground floor there are also the experimental archeology laboratories, where visitors and students can create objects, weapons and clay casts with the help of expert archaeologists and through a pedal lathe. Inside the Archaeological Museum of the Chianti Senese, the archaeological finds will be accompanied by a large and detailed didactic and audiovisual documentation, while two technological totems, located at the entrance of the structure, will elaborate personalized paper guides for each individual visitor.
